Stacey Gilbert

Attorney

Attorney Stacey Gilbert began practicing family law when she established her own private practice in 2003. However, her legal career as an attorney began when she accepted the position of the Staff Attorney to Judge David Fais of the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas, General Division, in 2001.

After working for Judge Fais and soon after opening her own firm, family law quickly became the bulk of Attorney Gilbert’s practice. After working as a solo practitioner, she then joined a law firm in Columbus as an associate attorney, where she also mainly focused on family law. Attorney Gilbert then accepted the position as the first Staff Attorney to Judge Elizabeth Gill of the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas, Division of Domestic Relations and Juvenile Branch. In July of 2008, she began working with a law firm that focused exclusively on family law. Despite firm changes since that time, Attorney Gilbert continues to only practice family law and enjoys what she does because she does something she loves – practicing law – while helping people.

Attorney Gilbert assists clients with divorces, dissolutions, legal separations, child custody, child support, spousal support (alimony), paternity, antenuptial (prenuptial) agreements, unmarried parent issues, and other family law matters. She became an Ohio State Bar Association Certified Specialist in Family Relations Law in 2012.

Attorney Gilbert’s experience working with two different judges proved to be invaluable. Being a Staff Attorney provided her with the opportunity to become acquainted with the Judges and their staffs and helped her learn about the inner-workings of courts.

Attorney Gilbert graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from the University of Dayton in 1998. Attorney Gilbert minored in French and International Business. While obtaining her undergraduate degree, Attorney Gilbert spent a Summer studying and traveling abroad in Eastern and Western Europe. During that time, she spent a month backpacking alone and visited about fifteen different countries. She was also a member of the Mock Trial Team, the Phi Alpha Delta Prelaw Fraternity, and Amnesty International.

Attorney Gilbert graduated magna cum laude with a law degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2001. Attorney Gilbert was on Law Review and participated in the Pro Bono Research Group (research fellow and officer), taught dispute resolution skills to middle school students, and taught basic legal concepts to grade school students.

Previously, Attorney Gilbert worked with Franklin County Interfaith Legal Services as a volunteer, as a steering committee member, and as the first Chairperson.

Attorney Gilbert lives Northeast of Columbus and has two children of whom she is immensely proud. When not assisting clients, Attorney Gilbert enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading a good Bible study, or relaxing at her camper at a campground. Attorney Gilbert also enjoys CrossFit and spinning and has completed one full and two half marathons. You can often find her on the ice, where she trains with her daughter for figure skating competitions and exhibitions, or on the sidelines of a lacrosse field, where she is her son's biggest cheerleader.

Attorney Gilbert loves to give back to her community and finds opportunities to do so through being a member of Rotary International. She attends local Rotary meetings and volunteers at local events.
